Eating well

Eating well

A good diet is an important part of a healthy lifestyle at any time, but especially if you're pregnant or planning a pregnancy. Eating a balanced diet will help your baby to develop and grow, and will keep you fit and well.

Eating well often means just changing how much you eat of certain foods so that your diet is varied, rather than cutting out the things you love (although there are some foods you should avoid during pregnancy).

It's important to eat a good variety of foods every day to get the right balance of nutrients that you and your baby need. You can get vitamins and minerals from everyday food, but when you're pregnant, you'll also need to take some supplements.

You may be hungrier than usual, but there's no need to eat for two (even if you're expecting twins!). A healthy breakfast can help you to avoid snacking on foods that are high in fat and sugar.
